Name Your Bridge

This was a little something I shared with my Facebook community. I’ve found this to be a powerful principle of “naming your bridge.”

There’s power in naming things.
Think about it. The first job that ever existed on this planet was to give names to all the animals.
Names provide identity and clarity.
Growing up in Missouri, I realized you can’t even cross a tiny bridge over a tiny creek in the middle of nowhere without the bridge having a name.
There is a gap between your present reality and the life that God has for you. And there is a bridge that will help you cross that gap. Have you named it?
Right now, my bridge is named “Action.” I know what I need to do to get where I want to go, but time and energy are limited. So it’s easy for me to go days without taking any action on my dream.
But for you the bridge may have a different name. Maybe Forgiveness. Maybe Courage. Maybe Education. Maybe just Discipline to do the things you know you should do.
Whatever it is, there is tremendous power in naming it. It brings confidence to know “THIS is what it’s going to take for me to cross over the Jordan in front of me.” And deep inside you know it is worth it.
So name your bridge…and start crossing.
